- Arranging insurance online
- In connection with buying insurance using this site you should be aware of the following stages in the process:
You will be asked a series of simple questions and to agree to certain statements in relation to your policy. These are the questions which form the basis of the insurance and which you should answer truthfully.
By clicking the relevant button to confirm that you wish to purchase insurance from us online, you declare that you wish to take out the cover provided by Morton Michel as an agent of the underwriters Sterling Insurance Company Limited.
You declare that you have read and understood the Summary and Guide to cover and give your explicit consent that the personal data you provide may be used by Morton Michel and Sterling Insurance Company Ltd, a member of Sterling Insurance Group Limited, for the purposes of your insurance. This includes underwriting, processing, claims handling and fraud prevention, which could involve passing details to agents of Sterling Insurance Group Limited or other insurers. You also declare that you understand that you are entitled to a copy of your personal data held by Sterling Insurance Group Limited and/or Morton Michel upon payment of a fee.
Upon clicking on the relevant button to confirm that you wish to purchase insurance from us online using a credit or debit card, you are authorising us to debit your credit or debit card with the amount of the premium due.
We will notify you by email that the transaction has been completed. If we have not contacted you, please contact us immediately.
Until you have received confirmation that your policy is effective, you should not rely upon being covered by the insurance offered by this website.
No policy is valid until the premium has been paid to and accepted by Morton Michel.
It is a condition precedent to liability that you shall be registered with the appropriate Registering Authority where applicable and all terms of such registration shall be complied with at all times.
Please note that we only arrange cover in the UK. If you live outside the UK you should contact an insurer in your own country.
Emails - please note that there is no guarantee that any e-mail sent to this site will be received by Morton Michel or that the message will remain confidential whilst being transmitted.
Important Policy information - on receipt of your payment, you should receive your documents by email immediately. If you do not do so, please contact us immediately.
Cooling off - if you decide that you do not wish to accept this policy, return it within 14 days of receipt and, provided no claims have been made, we will refund the premium.
Copy Policy Documentation - a copy of all our policy documentation is available on request.
Insurance Premium Tax - as imposed by current legislation, is incorporated into all premiums.
Premiums are payable annually to Morton Michel.
Disclosure of Material Facts - your attention is particularly drawn to the importance of the Declaration and signature on the Insurer's proposal forms. Any failure to disclose facts material to the insurance or any inaccuracies in your answers could invalidate your cover. Please do consult us if you are in doubt on any aspect.

3. Law applicable to the contract
We propose to choose English law as the law applicable to the contract unless we agree another choice of law with you prior to the start date.
4. Premiums
Premiums are payable annually to Morton Michel. Insurance premium tax, as imposed by current legislation, is incorporated into all premiums.
5. Promise of satisfaction and service
We are confident that your policy will bring you complete satisfaction. We undertake to refund the premium in full if you are not satisfied with the cover provided by your policy if it is returned within 14 days of issue, but if there has been an incident which has resulted or could result in a claim you must reimburse the Company for any amounts we have paid or may be required to pay, in respect of that incident.
6. Duration of contract
The first period of insurance under your policy will be 12 months unless otherwise requested by you and agreed by the Company.
7. Financial Services Compensation Scheme
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Further information about compensation scheme arrangements is available from the FSCS.
8. Notification of a claim
If you have a claim, or are aware of an incident that could result in a claim, please contact Morton Michel on 0845 257 0900 or Sterling Insurance Company Ltd on 0845 271 1300.
9. Enquiries or complaints
If you have an enquiry or complaint regarding:
- the suitability of this policy for your needs; or
- the information and advice you received whilst it was originally being discussed; or
- the operation or administration of the policy; or
- or an enquiry concerning a claim that you may have made;

If you have a complaint concerning a claim you have made you should contact Sterling Insurance Company Limited, 50 Kings Hill Avenue, West Malling, Kent ME19 4JX; telephone number 0845 271 1300.
If your complaint relates to Legal Expenses cover provided by DAS, please write to The Claims Services Manager, DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited, DAS House, Quay Side, Temple Back, Bristol BS1 6NH or telephone 0800 015 1407.
Please be ready to provide all relevant details of your policy and in particular your policy number (if allocated) to help your enquiry or complaint to be dealt with speedily.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may have the right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service at South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London, E14 9SR; telephone number 0845 080 1800.
Please note that the Financial Ombudsman Service will normally only consider a complaint once we have issued a final decision letter.
Following this procedure will not affect your legal rights.

- Paying by Instalments - Important information regarding instalment payments
- If you choose to pay by instalments, your personal information and the bank details you provide on the Direct Debit Instruction will be passed to our third party finance provider Premium Credit Limited. In assessing your application for credit they will search the public information that a credit reference agency holds about you. The credit reference agency will add details of the search and your application to their record about you whether or not your application proceeds. This and other information about you may be used to make credit decisions about you and undertake checks for the prevention and detection of money laundering. If your application for credit is accepted, Premium Credit will send you a welcome pack detailing their full terms and conditions and commence collection of your instalments. A credit agreement will be included for you to sign and return. Premium credit may begin collecting your Direct Debits before you return your signed credit agreement to pay for any insurance cover you are receiving. If you have any questions about your instalments, contact Premium Credit on 0844 736 9836. On renewal of your insurance policy we'll continue to pass your details to Premium Credit unless you instruct us otherwise.
