New products being launched include a timely `9 ways to save a small fortune booklet’, with helpful tips for purchasers of disposable products from Gompels HealthCare Ltd. The Spellpeople are displaying their new interactive software for 2 to 5 year olds; the package gives children the ability to learn about numbers, colours, shapes, letters etc while teaching them keyboard and mouse skills. Data Harvest, distributors of K’NEX, will be exhibiting their new set developed especially for Early Years whilst it will be the first chance to get a copy of the new Tuska Toys & Resources catalogue which includes over 600 toys and resources. In addition, several unique products will be on show, for example Shanticot Ltd’s bunk cot, the only such product in the UK. Specialist nursery suppliers Cheeky Rascals will be showcasing their innovative product range including Yes! SuperBaby’s Miracle Scarf and Korbell’s pedal nappy bin. Also new to the show this year is the Kids Cookery Company. Their range of fun cook kits designed to inspire children to cook was only launched last September but already has 180 stockists in the UK plus overseas distributors. The company has just been short-listed for the FSB awards and will hear next month whether they are a winner. The range of exhibitors is vast with every conceivable need of nurseries and childminders catered for. The majority of exhibitors are planning discounts, several will be holding prize drawers and as with any exhibition there will be plenty of free samples to take away! In addition to the main exhibition, new this year is The Childcare Company’s ‘A Space to Learn’ feature. This takes as its starting point the concept of the exploration of space, the universe and the future under the title ‘Out of this World’. From ideas created in the room, practitioners can springboard onto a variety of further activities and learning. There will be opportunities to interact with the Space to Learn and to take part in child centred and adult initiated experiences, all focused upon children’s learning. The Childcare Company is hoping that nurseries will gain inspiration to create a ‘Space to Learn’ in their own setting. This year, also for the first time, and again sponsored by the Childcare Company, there will be a programme of seminars and meetings. The seminars, covering a variety of stimulating topics will be delivered by industry specialists who have first hand practical experience of working within the childcare industry. In between each of the twelve 30 minute talks there will be opportunities for people to mingle and chat with childcare assessors about training issues and opportunities. The wide variety of topics covered in the seminars range from management issues to children’s learning and include:
