A before and after-school club in Gloucestershire has been closed after two men were arrested as part of a police investigation into child pornography. Additions Childcare in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire, was closed on 26 August after two local men aged 20 and 23 were arrested in Gloucester for distributing indecent images of children. The police said the 23-year-old man has a connection with the club but does not work there and the 20-year-old man had no connection to the club. A Gloucestershire police spokeswoman stressed that although the investigation was being led by the Force Child Protection Unit “there is no evidence or information at this stage that suggests any harm has come to any children who use the club”. She added, “The management of the club are fully co-operating with the investigation.” The police are also liaising with Ofsted, which has suspended the club's registration. Additions Childcare was registered for up to 50 children aged four to 12 and operated all year round. During term time it was open from 7.30am until 9am then 3 to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, while the holiday club ran from 8am to 6.30pm. Ofsted gave Additions Childcare a satisfactory rating when it was last inspected in October 2008. An Ofsted spokeswoman said, “We do not know, at present, when Additions will re-open. We suspended the nursery’s registration on 26 August 2009 to allow us time to investigate to ensure children are not at risk of harm. “We have suspended the provider’s registration which means the nursery cannot re-open at present. We are writing to the parents of all children who attend the nursery to inform them that we have suspended the provider’s registration. “We are working closely with the other agencies and will take any further action as is necessary to ensure children are safe from harm.” |
