Children’s Activities Week is a national event celebrating all the positive benefits that clubs, classes and activities bring to the lives of parents and children – helping kids (and their grown-ups) stay healthy, fit and happy! Morton Michel were thrilled to sponsor this fantastic event in its second year.
Rebecca Henwood, Marketing Manager at Morton Michel, tells us more…
Morton Michel have been working with children's activity providers for many years and we are delighted to be a founding member of the Children's Activities Association, helping to focus on improving professional standards in the unregulated childcare industry.
Children’s Activities Week encourages thousands of children in activity clubs and classes across the UK to take on a sponsored challenge to raise vital funds for Caudwell Children – a wonderful charity that supports autistic children and their families. We had a great time being involved in CAW 2018 so being headline sponsor this year was the perfect fit for us!
The event took place from 13th -17th May and throughout the week more than 80,000 children and 600 clubs and classes across the UK took part in sponsored challenges and dressed up for their favourite activity around the theme ‘#WatchMeFly’. CAW 2019 culminated in a showcase event at Caudwell Children’s HQ where there was a celebration of the many different professional and educational activities being delivered every day across the country. Popular children’s TV presenters Dick and Dom were also in attendance to show their support!
Trudi Beswick, Caudwell Children’s Chief Executive, said it was an honour to have groups of children coming together to help raise funds for charity.
She said: “We are dedicated to enabling autistic children to reach their full potential and Children’s Activities Week is playing a big part in us achieving our aim. Together, we are changing lives.”
In the Morton Michel office we also got in to the spirit of Children’s Activities Week and took part in a variety of different challenges to raise money. These included an arts and crafts competition, a ‘back to school’ day and cycling a total of 200 miles, the distance from our office in Croydon to the Caudwell International Children’s Centre in Stoke!
We’re thrilled to announce that the grand total raised for this year’s Children’s Activities Week is an incredible £125,259!
This means that thousands of autistic children and their families across the UK will now be able to access vital support from Caudwell Children helping to change their lives. Plus we’ll be able to continue the important work of the Children's Activities Association to improve and grow the children's activities sector for everyone – parents, children and activity providers alike.
