Doula UK and the Doula Access Fund

In last month’s newsletter we told you more about Doula UK and the Doula Access Fund, providing free support during pregnancy, labour and after the birth of a baby to those experiencing disadvantage, crisis and financial hardship.

Morton Michel is thrilled to have secured a £500 donation towards the Doula Access Fund via the PIB Community Trust.

Doula UK have provided us with a case study from Sofi as an example of the valuable resource they provide:

My partner suffers from depression and addiction. Even though he works hard on his recovery, some days are just bad days. With the news of my pregnancy and the pressure of parenthood there were more bad days than good days and as I planned and prepared for a physiological home birth, I needed a support team around me to get me through it, to give my partner a rest from the pressures and to make sure than in case of a bad day, I would still have the support I needed.

I found Doula UK online and applied instantly. I was so relieved when I got the news that Doula Anne-Marie was going to join me for this life changing event.

My partner and I felt supported for birth, and meeting our doula gave me the confidence I needed to get my dream birth.

The support was outstanding, throughout, during and after birth and I’m forever grateful to Doula UK and Anne-Marie, it wouldn’t have happened without them.
